The Treasurer is responsible for the finances of the association. The creation of the budget at the beginning of the year is one of the main responsibilities, as well as administrating all financial transactions during the year. You have to distribute the resources towards your fellow board members and their activities in such a way that it is sustainable for the society, but also provides enough resources to organize events in line with your board’s ambitions. Saying no has to be one of your characteristics because the other board members always wants more money for their events. The bookkeeping will be your responsibility and you will have to present the financial statements to the general assembly of members, after approval of the audit committee. Besides being responsible for the finances, you are also head of the Erasmus Advisory Project (ETP) committee, which aims to help bachelor-3 students with writing their thesis at the department of economics by organising interesting workshops and lectures.
The best part of being a board member of Study Association AEclipse is the interaction with your fellow board members as well as the other members of the association. Being responsible for running the association with your fellow board members is a big responsibility but we had much fun during the year. At the events you get to know most of the members as well as many alumni, which can be really valuable for your network. Furthermore, doing a board year is the perfect opportunity to develop skills you do not gain while only studying. It was a very valuable experience to me to be responsible for a committee and organise events for our members. For this reason I would recommend doing a board year at AEclipse, as you learn a lot during the year but also to have a fun time besides your studies. As a part time board member you will have the perfect balance between academics and extra-curricula’s.
