One of the most prestigious projects of Study Association AEclipse is the Erasmus Advisory Project (EAP). Each participating student will individually write a bachelor thesis in the field of general economics and receive extra guidance from professors connected to the Department of Economics (additional to the support of their thesis supervisors). The authors of the 5 best theses will be selected to present their research to a jury and compete for the best dissertation award and €1000,-.
The project will commence at the 9th of April. This is also the deadline for subscribing ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Before the start of block 5 of the academic year your research proposal has to be handed in and has to be approved. When all students have found supervisors for their theses and have their research proposals approved, the project will really begin in the first week of block 5.
The project will begin with a short introduction and a workshop about writing a good thesis. Several times during block 5 the students will present the progress of their research to a couple of experts. Teachers of the Erasmus School of Economics who are experts in the field you are writing a thesis about will attend these meetings and give feedback to you to assure a high quality thesis. This means you will not only be helped by your own thesis supervisor but also by other professors of the ESE and that you are accompanied to make sure you finish your bachelor thesis on time.
During the last meeting in June you have to hand in the draft of your final thesis and at the 25th of June (date has still to be confirmed) the thesis has to be finished. A jury will select the 5 best theses after which the student who wrote them will be invited to present their research to a jury which consists of high placed figures from government, business and academics.
Your bachelor thesis has to be related to general economics. The fields in which you are allowed to write a thesis for the Erasmus Advisory Project are: macroeconomics, microeconomics, international economics, personnel economics, economics of organisations, environmental economics, political economics, monetary economics and game theory.
So why should you enter the EAP? First of all you will be guided by extra professors who work in the field that is related to your thesis. So instead of just 1 person now several highly knowledgeable people will give you feedback about your thesis and support you along your way. This extra knowledge and guidance allows you to write a thesis of better quality than you would without participation in the EAP. Second, participation in the EAP will make sure that you finish your bachelor thesis on time and be able to proceed with your master after the summer. So the EAP allows you to write a better thesis in less time! Last but not least there you can win the prize for the best bachelor thesis in general economics 2011 at the Erasmus School of Economics and receive all the glory with it. But the winner is not the only one who receives a prize because the writers of the best theses will not only compete for the glory but also compete for the money (#1 receives €700, the #2 €200 and the #3 will receive €100).
Participation is free. This means you will not lose anything when entering the EAP but will gain a lot!
